Top 10 Packing Tips to Protect Your Belongings During a Move

Removal of your things can be one of the most thrilling but hassle moments in life. The fact that it can be to a different city or just to a different road requires proper packing for transportation to ensure that items safely arrive at the new place. Should you feel that this packing guide will provide you with the best possible approach for ensuring the utmost protection of your valuable items, go through the contents with all ten packing tips to see to it that everything goes smoothly and hassle-free with the move.

  1. Devise a Packing Plan

Before any packing begins, get down to making a moving checklist that will keep you in literal organization. Organize all rooms, list every item that begs packing, and set a timetable for yourself. You will then have to follow a plan such that nothing will get left for the last minute at the expense of risking your possessions through unloved packing.

  1. Invest in Quality Packing Supplies

Source the strongest moving boxes, bubble wrap with specifications to various dimensions, packing paper with various specifications, and OEM heavy-duty tape. Over packed weak boxes can hurt physically; normally, breakage will occur. Invest rather in above-standard packing materials to earn that extra protection for your possessions while packing.

  1. Pack Heavy Stuff at the Bottom

Stuff full of boxes, and it always goes bottom heavy stuff on top lighter. Provides balance to the box and keeps the delicate items from being squished down.

  1. Wrapping Right for Fragile Items

Glassware, china, and electrics are fragile items that must use extra proactive measures. They have to be tightly wrapped in bubble wrap or towels or packing paper. At the very bottom of the box should be crumbled packing paper before any fragile items even go in.

  1. Properly Label Boxes

One of the efficient moving tips is ensuring all boxes are properly labeled with their contents and the room they belong. Mark cases containing delicate items as “Fragile” within clear view. Offloading the boxes becomes easy, and everything fragile ensures extremely tender treatment.

  1. Don’t Overpack Box

Overpacking boxes is, perhaps, one of the oldest errors known to mankind during house moves. Never pack any box that exceeds your ability to lift; heavy boxes are unwieldy and more prone to breakage. Every box should weigh below 20 kilograms to facilitate easy movement.

  1. Prevent Liquids from Spill Chan

Are collecting some liquids up for the movie-shampoo, detergent, or cooking oil? Place a piece of plastic wrap over the opening of the bottle and tighten the cap for maximum leakage prevention. Place these into a waterproof bag apart in order to keep other contents unspoiled by spills in the case of any leakage.

  1. Disassemble Furniture Parts for Easy Movement

Breaking bigger furniture parts into smaller pieces for easy moving saves space and damage avoidance. Let’s take apart table legs, headboards, and shelves where applicable. Place screws and bolts into labeled bags to help you easily fit together everything again after moving.

  1. Use Suitcases for Heavy or Worthy Prices

Put in rolling suitcases some books, electronics, or important documents rather than dumping them into boxes. Thus, protecting possessions will bring easy transport.

  1. Pack Essentials in One Separate Bag

Have a well-stocked bag of immediate necessities such as toiletries, medicines, phone chargers, and a change of clothes. This particular packing essential will help you settle into your new house without searching through boxes on the first night.

They were on time and notified us that they were using three men for the move which would put the cost up but it was done a lot quicker. They were friendly and professional I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a removalist!

Have never had a service with Northside Removals but will state that I was out in the community when I noticed a Northside Removals truck, look over and see a worker drinking while driving (not a water beverage an alcoholic beverage). Didn’t realise this was on their contract (that they’re allowed to drink while on the job as this is most definitely banned in every industry). Just be more professional as there are people watching everywhere you go.

Northside Removals provided an atrocious service. Their unprofessionalism and rude behavior were appalling. They damaged my furniture and shamelessly refused to take responsibility. Avoid this company at all costs unless you enjoy dealing with incompetence and disrespect.

Booked in a last minute move on the day of for a friend who's movers didn't come through, the blokes came and smashed out the job quickly, effectively and efficiently. You can easily tell they know exactly what they're doing and handle your belongings with care as if it was their own. They are fast, reliable, funny and kind! They are a little more expensive than some other companies out there, but I think they were worth every cent and the quality of the job reflects the value of the cost. Great team of people and would recommend them for anyone looking to get the job done right the first time.

Kevin & Justin did an awesome job with our move. Couldn't have asked for better service from two really lovely blokes. They clearly take pride in their work & have a lot of fun while they do it. Turned up on the dot & work efficiently, safely & with care. No rubbish bins where harmed in the parking of the truck 😉 thanks Kev & Justin, very happy with how the move went.
