It is situated on the northern side of the Brisbane River, about 14 kilometers northeast of the central business district of Brisbane. Pinkenba is primarily an industrial area, with many warehouses and factories located in the suburb. The suburb is also home to the Pinkenba Boat Ramp, which provides access to the Brisbane River for boating and fishing.
